Short-Eared Owl at Roost

One of my favourite images of a Short-Eared Owl.  These migratory birds are always a pleasure to see during the short window the visit the UK each winter.  This beautiful owl was at roost in amongst some birch trees that were still clinging onto their last few leaves.  Totally undisturbed by my presence I was able to get a whole sequence of images of this owl having a preen before its partner started calling from another tree and off they went together.
