Peekaboo Little Owl Chick

Over the course of 2020 I spent many hours in my hide with a family of Little Owls including the 2 chicks they had and this is by far my favourite.  Successfully rearing chicks is not an easy job for a little owl particularly where there had been such a boom in Magpie and Jackdaw populations that overrun their territory and harass the poor Owls.

I could hear this chick calling its parents for a meal and then I spotted this little face just peeping out from behind the traditional dry-stone wall it called home.  Such an amazing moment I struggled to focus enough to press the shutter on my camera to capture this image.
